Why haven't I visited before? I have passed it so many times! So finally I went with Eileen and Josh a couple of weeks ago and it was so good I have been back another couple of times. Today I took my D200 to take some photos of the butterflies and gardens. Here are a few shots....

This is their latest garden due to open next Monday I think. It is all about the interpretation of dreams and so far it looks like it is going to be a series of outdoor room settings. This is a view across the mantlepiece; the room looks like it could be a take on Goldilocks with the three different sized chairs in front of the fireplace and the oversized bed. Another room has a table made from driftwood and a spiral staircase made from wood and iron. At the moment it still needs the plants and flowers adding but it really is looking incredible so far. I just love this place so much!

Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-90695123061601276562008-01-14T18:37:00.001+00:002008-01-14T18:58:45.582+00:00Busy doing nothing....or so it seems!

Today has been one of those days when I have spent most of the time either clearing up or transporting loads of stuff upstairs and then loads of stuff downstairs. I think I just need to have a massive clearout then I won't spend hours running up and down the stairs like this!

I did get to meet Sam and Amy for lunch which was definitely a nice thing. Amy has about two months to go until the baby is due but she seems to be doing more running around than ever. Sam is hoping for an interview for the manager's job next week. She will be just perfect for that so my fingers are crossed. Apart from that we chatted about all the good stuff we have coming up over the next two months :) The Ickenham weekend crop is looking pretty likely now and thats only a few weeks away, I'm hoping to join Sam, Amy and Nat on Wednesday to see Wicked in London which will be cool. Then I have a month off work (yay!!), the first week is half term so I get to spend some time with Holly when she isn't revising, then it is my birthday so we are hoping to go on a spa day, then I go to South Africa for 10 days - I am so looking forward to catching up with Venessa again. And then we have a girls weekend away at Centre Parks in early March - just before I go back to work. I know most people will be scrapbooking, but we plan to spend a day in the spa, walk the trails, eat and drink lots and generally just relax for the few days. And then it is ScrapFever....which I am so looking forward to. Karen Russell's class looks amazing and Shim is a fab teacher no matter what she does so that will be a fabby weekend. So just a few more weeks at work then all this to look forward to.

I had a long chat with Venessa yesterday (about 1 1/2 hours...I'm not thinking about my phone bill :( ) and it was great to catch up on the last couple of months. Ty starts playschool on Thursday; I can hardly believe it. He was only 6 weeks old when they went back to S. Africa and it will be almost two years since I last saw him when I go over next month. He will have changed so much. It will be good to see Hannah and Luke as well and I guess they will be a lot different now. There is a new shopping complex since I was last out there so we will have to check it out of course! It would be rude not to :)

Anyway not much else has happened. I finally got my car insurance renewed after about 3 hours on the phone trying to better my quote. I HATE getting insurance quotes, it is never 2 minutes, more like 2 hours when you have finished giving them all that information :( Anyway, it is done now.

I had a very lazy weekend; Sunday I didn't get out of my jammies until about 5pm which was very nice. Infact I would have got straight back into them after my bath but we went next door to play cards for the evening. So I drunk too much wine, ate too much chocolate and tortilla chips but I didn't lose at cards for once - yay! But we only played 'chase the lady' so I guess it wasn't that much of an achievement lol. Holly won which was pretty cool. Saturday, I went over to Amy's crop but I didn't get much done as I talked way to much....but I hadn't seen Sara for months and months and her daughter is in her first year at Med School, so lots to talk about.

Anyway, that's me caught up. Now to cook dinner.....Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-44812350415073280742008-01-11T23:37:00.000+00:002008-01-12T00:01:40.521+00:00Scrapbooking....These are my recent pages from SI.... this is probably overkill but this is all I have done over the last few months apart from the unpublished stuff. I can't believe how quickly time has passed and it is impossible to even think about catching up. The end of the year was so busy at work, so combined with Christmas shopping I seemed to have no free time. But we had our Christmas a week early. Most of my family came down for the weekend; we had our stockings, presents and Christmas dinner on the Sunday and it was all lovely. But it did seem quite strange going up to the shops though as in my head I had really convinced myself it was Christmas and nothing should have been open! Truly I shouldn't have been going shopping BUT Holly decided that she really did want the first jacket she had tried on on the Saturday for her Christmas present from my mum and could we go and buy it for her as she had a footie match? So my mum and I stopped off from prepping the dinner and walked up only to find that it had been sold just that morning.... and it was the only one they had! Mmmn...I'm sure beating your kids really isn't a crime! Apart from that little unnecessary trip the rest of the weekend was great and it was good to catch up with everyone.

Then....we went to Lapland for Christmas itself. What an amazing holiday. I loved it all. And it snowed on Christmas day (the real one :))so a White Christmas! We stayed in a log cabin; it was huge. It could have slept 9 although there was just the three of us. With a log fire and a sauna. It was perfect.

We went for a night skidoo trip the first night; a 90 minute ride through the fells and forests with just our headlights to light the way. Then we spent two days searching for Father Christmas; during which we spent hours sledging (brilliant fun), snowball fights, more skidoos (not nearly so fast as the night trip) reindeer rides, huskie rides, sleigh rides, more sledging, eating, visiting Santa's post office, workshop and finally the great man himself. It could only have been better if I was five! I did ask Santa why he had such a good London accent? He pointedly said that he had been in Lapland for 400 years. Oh well....but then his sleigh must have stopped working because strangely he caught the same flight back to the UK as us! So funny. Actually he and his wife (Mrs Claus) were both lovely and had had a nice three weeks playing Father Christmas. They said they were off to Moscow the following year! Strangely, none of the other families or their children seemed to realise Santa came home with them :)

I will have to sort out my photos which unfortunately were not that good. Even with the ISO set to 1600 and the widest aperture, I still had blurred photos. But these are a few of them....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/R4f6U62yAmI/AAAAAAAAAPM/xkiGO29Qlhc/s320/aa.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5154363535852175970" />
Meeting a reindeer....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/R4f6VK2yAnI/AAAAAAAAAPU/1vTqXiOIplQ/s320/ee.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5154363540147143282" />
and huskies

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/R4f6Va2yAoI/AAAAAAAAAPc/oWZIQRe_Bbw/s320/g.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5154363544442110594" />
I think this was a sunset through the clouds but as we never actually saw the sun it was hard to tell.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/R4f6Va2yApI/AAAAAAAAAPk/9vQXN5PnL-Q/s320/k.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5154363544442110610" />
Skiing on our free day. I have only just got the elf song out of my head....

So as you can see we got one days skiing in and then Holly and I went back on our last morning as we had time to get one hours worth of skiing in before we had to catch the bus back to the airport. We managed 7 runs in that hour although I think I counted more bruises than that when I got home. I had forgotten how much ski boots hurt!
The only disappointment with the whole holiday? The weather was reasonably warm 0 to -3 degrees and mostly overcast. Totally the wrong conditions for the Northern Lights. I was so disappointed that we didn't get to see them but I guss it means I just have to go out again. In fact I have checked out a few websites for a long weekend to Luosto.....Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-33075251051770611502007-10-14T13:32:00.000+01:002007-10-14T13:45:55.892+01:00The Proclaimers at Hammersmith ApolloOK, so my liking for this band might be a tad obsessive but I think they are fantastic live and last night was the best yet. They played a great set; a real mix of old and new, including some from the current album. A real highlight was 'Wrecless Eric' guesting on their take of his song 'Whole Wide World'. I won't go on because it can get boring if you don't like them but as before I managed to get a place up at the front, so perfect for photos. It is such a shame I can only take a snapshot camera in with me because the picture quality could be so, so much better. But overall, slight blur withstanding, they weren't too bad.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RxIOpOmqmBI/AAAAAAAAAO0/aDTTf0ETE3g/s320/IMG_7408_filteredx.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5121171827731372050" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RxIOpemqmCI/AAAAAAAAAO8/dDQjgRChVQQ/s320/IMG_7415_filteredx.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5121171832026339362" />
and with Wreckless Eric...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RxIOp-mqmDI/AAAAAAAAAPE/hP6kTaIsNeI/s320/IMG_7425_filteredx.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5121171840616273970" />
On another note, it is Roy's birthday today and we got him one of the new 8GB video Nanos...it looks very cool, black with a shiny, silver backing.(Not that this affects the music but it is very pretty!). I've just uploaded some music onto it for him but I need to work out how to do the videos etc, 'cos I haven't figured the extras out on mine yet.Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-1494418254653043492007-10-13T15:58:00.000+01:002007-10-13T16:12:19.784+01:00A long day...and it is not over yet lol.

We have just got back from a flying visit to Lincoln to see my mum. Just over two hours to get up there, some gardening - basic because that's all I do. Then a hoover around, out to Whisby's nature reserve for lunch and then back down to London. Her leg is healing well, although it is painful as she is just starting to weight bare again. But hey, that is so much better than being in a wheelchair all the time.

Now I have time to get the washing on, go and pick Holly up from work, make dinner and then head into Hammersmith to see The Proclaimers. I bought their new album a few weeks ago, which I have played to death. Then I found Restless Soul the other day and have been listening to that instead. Although the reviews were not as good, I actually prefer this album.

Maybe tomorrow I will have some time to scrapbook...and a lie in - yay!

These were the two pages based on Shim's sketch for the Banana Frog UKS birthday crop class today. I'm looking forward to seeing what people make of this sketch...I had fun with it and it is quite unusual and fab to work to.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RxDfoemql_I/AAAAAAAAAOk/-h29_rpakoo/s320/at+45x.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5120838662823254002" />

Thanks to Anita Mundt for these photos of me. The middle one is more recent, taken a couple of months ago.Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-1265452687365355052007-10-10T20:00:00.000+01:002007-10-10T20:15:14.365+01:00Busy timeWhere has the time gone again? It is sooo long since I last posted, lots of things have been happening but no time to catch up. I will try and catch up with some back posts but for tonight, just a quickie. Its been a busy day at work but really just paperwork and lots of phonecalls...jobs but nothing to go to today. They still continued an hour an a half after finishing - the downside to being contactable by mobile.

Anyway I am home now. My dad is here; we are going to his brother's funeral tomorrow morning. A sad time, they didn't really keep in touch so he didn't know his brother was ill. He could have said goodbye but no one told him. So he is sad and this is the last of his immediate family.

Have desparately been catching up with housework, washing and ironing. All I seem to do is pick up stuff from downstairs and take it upstairs. Every morning and evening. Without fail. The same stuff just magically reappears. Does this happen in other peoples houses? One day I will find out just how many calories I use up, running up and down the stairs countless times a day. It must be lots but it doesn't seem to make a difference lol. Maybe it has something to do with the wine and the chocolate!

So what else have I been up to? The last couple of nights I have been making a couple of pages for the Banana Frog UKS Cyber Crob class that Shimelle is running. So that has been fun and I will post them when I can. Now I have to work on magazine pages lol.Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-5474465768970424642007-09-23T02:15:00.000+01:002007-09-24T02:33:22.925+01:00A busy weekend...doing nothing but housework!

Two days spent catching up on the jobs that I keep putting aside and then never doing plus a real blitz on cleaning my place. I aches all over - how can housework do that to you? But the place looks great and I feel so much happier now that I have got rid of lots of clutter. I still have a few jobs to do like sort out the books for the charity shop and finish my tax return but I feel good!

I took a few more photos for Shimelle's 'Fill my little World' class at Ickenham in two weeks but I need to get them downloaded and find some more ready for printing. I didn't think that it would be so hard to get a hundred or so photos together that depict my life but it is definitely proving so. And I want some extra ones incase the ones I have chosen don't work with the album. This is one time when 40,000 photos on your PC is more of a hindrance than a help. I just can't find ones that I know I have taken!

What a beautiful weekend it has been even if I haven't taken advantage of the good weather. I love it when September is as warm as it is right now....just a shame we didn't get more of it during summer itself.Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-58989204083995353352007-09-21T08:11:00.000+01:002007-09-21T08:37:35.827+01:00Some LO'sI am not really doing that much for SI at the moment but these are my two pages from the current issue (which has some great stuff in it this month). Also a page I did for Banana Frog...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RvNzEOmql8I/AAAAAAAAAOM/SRmycM7-aSE/s320/summer+wear1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5112556518472587202" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RvNzEemql9I/AAAAAAAAAOU/7LTn_Fc0L4A/s320/travel1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5112556522767554514" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RvNzEumql-I/AAAAAAAAAOc/sIIf-h4FVqA/s320/those+halcyon+days1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5112556527062521826" />Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-57514664229707945422007-09-20T07:37:00.000+01:002007-09-21T08:09:11.515+01:00Exams...Oh my...I have so much catching up to do I'm not even sure that I will remember everything that has happened over the last two weeks or so. But for today...

I took the day off to be with Holly as she had a couple of exams. The first was her driving theory test and the second was the UKCAT apptitude test that she has to take if she wants to study medicine. Well I have been nagging over the last few weeks and Holly has been working on both although the Uni one can not be revised for, just examples practised.

So we went up to Watford first thing and although we were early, Holly was able to take the theory test straight away. I wasn't allowed to wait at the centre so I found a little cafe nearby and waited...

Great news, Holly passed the theory test, 49/50 for the Highway Code and 49/75 for the hazzards section. We had a couple of hours to wait until the next one so we went into Watford to my favourite coffee shop 'Presence' and had a civilised breakfast, Whilst I worked on my tax return (main reason why I haven't done anything else over the last few days lol) Holly worked on her examples. Then it was time to head back up to the test centre for the second exam...where the receptionist informed us that Holly could have sat the second one straight away but he didn't realise she was doing two until she had left! Oh well....I left her for the second one and rushed back home, hung the washing out and other bits of housework, then walked back up to the test centre again. I must have walked about 5 miles today which has to be a good thing right?!

Holly was waiting outside. I think that she was just happy and relieved that it was all over and she didn't have to stress about it anymore. Her overall mark was 615 out of 900 which is right in the middle of average (that being between 500 and 700)so hopefully it will be OK when it comes to applying for medicine.

After walking Holly back to school I went to Borders where I spent a couple of hours looking through the various photography books before settling on one by Tom Ang. I did find a really good one but it was £25 so I want to see if I can find it cheaper on Amazon. This one is not too large so it will fit in my handbag if necessary.

Then it was to Tescos, shopping, back home, time to clean out the kitchen cupboards and fridge before putting the food away, dinner and back to sorting out all my paperwork so that I can work out my tax return. Nothing like leaving it to the last minute - again lol. At least all my paperwork is in order; the current stuff filed and old stuff sorted and put away. Now I can just work out my figures and get it sent off before the deadline.

This is going to be another busy weekend. Anita Mundt (from the SIDT)is coming over for a visit next week and is going to stop with me for a couple of days. I am really looking forward to meeting her but I DO need to get my place cleaned up before she arrives as it is looking somewhat messy! So Roy is on cleaning duties, not sport on TV and remote control protection duties this weekend and we can blitz the place together! Plus I have bags of stuff needing to go up to the charity shop, the dump and in the loft which I just never seem to get around to doing. Well that is going get done as well lol.

OK, so that was today. I shall try and catch up on some back posts later.Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-35946028120354467372007-09-03T22:28:00.000+01:002007-09-03T22:46:28.709+01:00A lazy dayA very lazy day! I got up at 7am to put the washing on, then went back to bed and slept until 10.30am. Even when I got up I didn't do much....watched back episodes of Greys Anatomy with Holly then went up into Watford to get her a new school jumber and some trousers and shirts for work for me. We were having such a cool time shopping (yeah right!) we completely forgot about Holly's driving lesson - it was now 5.10pm and her instructor was picking her up at 5pm...oops. A quick phone call and he met us near to the shopping centre so Holly still got her lesson which was good because between her work experience, holiday in Spain and the car going into the garage for 2 weeks, she hasn't had a lesson since the start of summer.

I think it went well...she had a big smile on her face when she got back and said that Gary only had to brake a couple of times for her when she didn't on the approach to a junction! I'm glad that I am not there to watch any of this...it is totally different when it is your child out there...

No scrapbooking for ages now. I popped round to see Laura and she showed me her latest page which is fab...and done whilst they are fitting a kitchen! I can't even manage one on a day off lol. I don't think I will have much time this week either. I have jobs booked in tomorrow and Wednesday, plus I have to go into town tomorrow morning first. Then I am off to Manchester for Thursday through to Saturday for some work meetings. But then it is Sunday and the Ickenham Crop - yay! Not that I will be ready though.

Talking of being ready...I have spent a couple of hours tonight going through my photos for pictures I can use for Shimelle's 'Fill My Little World' class in October. I am so looking forward to her class but I know from past experience how crap I am at getting organised! So I have around 60 6x4 photos, 20 5x7, a 10x8 and some 2x2 to find. All about what's in my life right now. I've found some of family and friends but now I need to find some of my house, where I live, the food I like, hobbies, places I visit.... and I want to have spare ones, in case I can't use the ones I pick for any reason. Like they are the wrong orientation, they don't go with the papers. So many decisions and not that much time left!Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-73833573881127705682007-09-02T22:11:00.000+01:002007-09-03T22:28:29.718+01:00Watford and LincolnI spent the weekend in Lincoln, visiting my mum who has not long come out of hospital after an operation to rebuild her foot. She will be in plaster for at least 3months, the first 6 weeks are non weight bearing....possibly longer. It depends on the first check up.

So I went to see Watford play on Saturday. They won 2 nil against Ipswich - my 'favourite' club as a child. We all have our Premiership favourites although in those days it was Division One. Mine was Ipswich because of Paul Mariner (who these days runs a coaching school in the US I think?). I never saw them play though....just Gillingham my local club. But you could dream as a kid. Now I have seen them play lots of times, but it isn't quite the same lol.

Anyway, great game. Ipswich were quite poor and Watford brilliant and they deserve to be second in the table. Well they deserve to be top but Coventry put paid to that!

The drive up to Lincoln was not too bad, around 2 1/2 hours. My mum is fine, doing really well. She has a light weight wheelchair for getting around in and can do pretty much everything at home.

The next day, my sister Eileen and Josh came over. They are going to stay for a few days. We went down to Whisby Nature Reserve for lunch which was very nice. We did plan to go for a walk but it started spitting with rain so we headed back instead. I stopped for coffee then headed back home. The thought of Sunday evening traffic wasn't too enticing but actually it was a pretty quick run back all things considered.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/Rtx8SyTJhqI/AAAAAAAAAN8/BJOYwlcsspI/s320/walk.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5106092739712878242" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/Rtx8TCTJhrI/AAAAAAAAAOE/fxo45WYk9Kk/s320/walk1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5106092744007845554" />Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-48940699886053936372007-08-28T08:39:00.000+01:002007-08-28T08:47:09.223+01:00Tuesday...and Bubble didn't make it. I found him dead in hs isolation tank this morning. I kind of figured this would be the outcome...even with the medication. He had even managed to get some of his colour back but I think he was just too sick. So he is now buried in the back garden under the honeysuckle tree.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RtPS6iTJhoI/AAAAAAAAANs/m8RPkYQ7so8/s320/just+4+chillin1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5103654705822271106" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RtPS6yTJhpI/AAAAAAAAAN0/om0cOrxx85k/s320/just+jack1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5103654710117238418" />

A couple of pages that are in the latest issue of SI. I didn't manage to do any scrapbooking yesterday at all yesterday. Maybe I'll get some time tonight although I really need to catch up on some paperwork and housework this week. My tax return keeps calling my name lol. I am doing my best to ignore it but September will soon be here and I need to get going with it one of these days.Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-17462060574772809242007-08-27T23:15:00.000+01:002007-08-27T23:29:19.076+01:00Lazy daySo today I did nothing. Made lots of plans for being busy during the rest of the week, but not today. We went down to the petshop to take back our loach which had grown about four times it's original size and now was being incredibly aggresive towards the other fish. I was on the phone a couple of days ago when I looked over and saw that it had our oldest fish, Bubble in it's mouth and was dragging him around. Poor Bubble was bleeding from his fins and lost every bit of his gold colour. We have treated him and the water, isolated him but he isn't picking up at all. He is still white with bloody streaks in his tail. His tail and fins have just disintigrated in pieces and he is mostly upside down. There is nothing else we can do for him apart from wait and see if he gets over the shock. He has hung on for the last two days but seems so poorly. Such a shame because he is our original fantail and he was this deep reddy gold colour with spots of sparkly gold and huge frondlike fins and tail. He has grown so much over the last few years and up until Saturday appeared quite happy and healthy - well as much as a fish can I guess.

This evening we all went over to Sam's for a barbeque which was very nice. A couple of hours relaxing except for a few minutes panic when her two year old neice flicked a spadeful of sand over my Nikon D200 as I was taking photos. I am really, really hoping that it hasn't got inside the workings. I cleaned it all off and then put it away. It appears OK but here's keeping my fingers crossed. So no photos from tonight.Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-63676981901326566142007-08-26T22:51:00.000+01:002007-08-27T23:14:35.746+01:00London calling...We had a fab day in London. The weather was good and apart from forgetting that I was heading to Paddington to meet Lynetta and instead headed for Victoria as if I was going to work...everything went well!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RtNKqiTJhlI/AAAAAAAAANU/Wy_EQLIlySg/s320/lyn.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5103504897362986578" />
Lynetta

We started with coffee in Starbucks and catching up, then headed for Westminster, the London Eye and the Southbank. For a couple of hours we wandered along watching the street entertainers and taking loads of photos. Some were the obligatory statues but they had a couple of brightly painted lizzards who cycled madly when money was dropped into their tins, a 'dog' in a cage, snow white and a few other characters. We passed an exhibition of paintings, an old fashioned merry go round, ate lunch in Gabriels Wharf, went up to the observation deck of the Oxo building, crossed the Millennium Bridge and then headed up past St Pauls Cathedral, the Royal Courts of Justice and up to Covent Garden where I found a cool mirror handmade from Lime which will look perfect in my hall if I ever get around to decorating it!

Thanks Lyn...I really enjoyed our day!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RtNMsSTJhnI/AAAAAAAAANk/nu-yA5geZEk/s320/eye.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5103507126451013234" />
London Eye

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RtNKYiTJhjI/AAAAAAAAANE/KdeSCyNJqyQ/s320/lizard.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5103504588125341234" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RtNKYyTJhkI/AAAAAAAAANM/mEQuZIKfREY/s320/lizard1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5103504592420308546" />
Street Entertainers

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RtNKqyTJhmI/AAAAAAAAANc/sXOm7fgZbv8/s320/ride.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5103504901657953890" />
Merry-go-round

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RtNKYSTJhiI/AAAAAAAAAM8/D8qypHRPAvo/s320/graffiti.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5103504583830373922" />
South Bank Graffiti

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RtNKXyTJhgI/AAAAAAAAAMs/gO5o5ECYFyg/s320/bridge.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5103504575240439298" />
Millennium BridgeAnnehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-53403220801101278892007-08-26T08:30:00.000+01:002007-08-26T08:33:23.088+01:00A girlie day in LondonI am so looking forward to today. My scrapping buddy Lynetta (who I don't get to see that often) and I are off to London for a girlie day! We will do all the tourist things and take lots of photos. Eat lunch, do Starbucks, explore and just have a great time!

So my camera is packed; spare batteries and memory cards at the ready. Now all I need to do is get in the shower and head off!Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-39673213422222064692007-08-25T08:21:00.000+01:002007-08-26T08:35:38.504+01:00OMG the sun is shining!I can't believe it! This last week has been so miserable; winter clothes, boots, driving around London in the pouring rain. And now, three days of sunshine - yay!

I took Holly over to Willow Tree Crafts for work this moring. Spent a couple of hours there; bought some new 7 Gypsies stamps and went with Rob to have a look at how their extension is coming on. It looks fab but I can't believe that Rob is doing this on top of a full time job. It is so much work. But what a difference it will make. And Amy gets her own scraproom/study!

So for the rest of the day did I enjoy the sunshine? Nope. I sat in and spent the whole time working on a SI project which is so fiddly and I need my head testing for suggesting it! There is something a little strange working on Christmas themes when the sun is shining through the windows; but it is done after about four days work on it and it looks quite cute now it is finished.

I did however manage to get three loads of washing done...and dried! All in one day. I can't believe how happy that makes me. Not the pile of ironing but an emptyish washing basket and that fresh, dried on the line smell to the clothes!Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-41251248977253379532007-08-20T23:45:00.000+01:002007-08-20T23:56:30.584+01:00Gotta love teenagers!Holly changed her mind about a shopping trip to London...having asked for it in the first place and decided to go to visit her sister and nephew for a few days instead. So I still walked her up to the station, she went North and I decided to still go into London and head for the home shops as planned. I didn't buy anything but there were some fab things there. I loved the simple oak furniture of Heals and The Pier; the jewel like colours of the various fabrics, throws, cushions, curtains. In particular some taffeta curtains in Habitat caught my eye. I wanted lime green for my conservatory but they didn't have any. I loved the bright pink ones though.

Then to Starbucks and back home. And not much else. I started working on a page but to be honest was not in the mood for it. So just watched House instead.Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-940214468580872962007-08-19T20:51:00.000+01:002007-08-19T21:07:18.522+01:00Ooops...Am I in the dog house or what? Roy has just stitched me up and told Holly that I really wanted a curry. So now she won't cook me dinner. But she wanted me to share hers. So now I am not hungry enough for a curry :( So instead, I made toasted olive ciabattas with brie, grapes and cranberry sauce with white port. Yum yum. Not sure it is healthier than a curry though but it sure tasted nice!

I think Holly and I are going to go into London tomorrow. Head down to Tooting and have a look at St Georges so that when she and Danni go down for the open day in September, she will know where to go. I never really liked Tooting much; not that I have had to go there recently for work. Probably down to the crap traffic...that usually influences my like or dislike of an area of London lol. Then I think that we will go shopping...if my credit card can stand it! If we head towards Oxford St, Holly can do the clothes shops then I can head up Tottenham Court Road to Heals, Habitat and The Pier. Just about my three most favourite 'home' shops ever. Except for The Designers Guild in Chelsea...not that I can afford to shop there - I don't think I can afford to window shop either...way too dangerous :D Oh and Pier One in the US. I think that I love it even more than the UK version - The Pier. Although that possibly is because it is so much cheaper. And I lurve shopping in the US. Especially Atlanta....my favourite city ever. Home of the Braves..and Andrew Jones. Maybe I need another trip there lol. But hey, I have Boston in a few short months. Which means Legal Seafoods. Another favourite. Best I start doing some more overtime to pay for all of this....

Anyway, it is only 9pm and I feel like doing some scrapping. If I can find some photos that inspire me. Although I have been going through the boxes and boxes of old photos from when Holly was a toddler and they have been fun to scrap. So less time on the Internet I think...Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-26629918145756488622007-08-19T19:30:00.000+01:002007-08-19T19:51:46.093+01:00Does it ever stop raining?It rained most of the way up to Keele. It rained ALL day whilst we looked around the University and it rained most of the way back! In fact the only time I noticed it wasn't raining was when we came off the M25 at Watford....or was that because I couldn't see the rain for the queue of cars??!! Just lovely.

But....we had a great day at Keele. It is very different from Manchester Uni although their course was based on Manchester's until this year when they start their own degree. The medical building was fab. The students seemed keen and happy with the place. The talks were informative and reassuring with regards to how little weight they attach to AS grades when offering interviews. They also gave a lot of useful information on how to approach your personal statement and interview if offered one. The accommodation was a little basic...especially for £90 a week. I'm glad I'm not the student! All in all though, a very positive day.

My camera however stayed firmly in the boot of the car. Not one photo. Nada. Way too much rain!

Now, having got home, thinking of a curry and a large glass of Chardonnay pretty much all the way home, Holly has decided she wants to make dinner....something healthy! Huh? Since when did I bring my daughter up like that?!! But I'm sure it will be perfect :)Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-20561407256863954892007-08-18T22:19:00.000+01:002007-08-18T22:23:56.518+01:00Top of the Championship League!For a few short hours we were top of the table today following our one nil win against Sheffield United. Following Stoke's win later this evening they have gone above us alphabetically only. But hey this is a great start for Watford.

Finished the magazine page I was stuck on last night...but no time for any other scrapping. No time tomorrow either as we are off to Keele University.Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-2764527380174947322007-08-17T22:46:00.001+01:002007-08-17T23:10:28.142+01:00Four days off !Yay! I love long weekends!

Today has been a lazy day. I just did bits and pieces this morning, sorted out my banking then went over to Ickenham to meet Sam for lunch which is the first time in sooo long. I must be getting predictable because the girl in the sandwich shop knew exactly what to put in my panini, right down to the redcurrant sauce. I really must try something new lol.

As I walked back to the car I noticed a kite for sale in the charity shop so picked it up for the little boy next door. Only it wasn't a kite, it was an Indonesian kiteboat! As I found out when his dad and I tried to put it together. It needs a little repair work but it is pretty cool....I'm just not certain whether you fly it or sail it!! I'm guessing on the sailing but this is what it looks like....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_IDwdd8AKbD4/RsYaySTJhfI/AAAAAAAAAMk/Tas85idfnWY/s320/boat-kite-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5099793079251600882" />

I think Dave will take Andrew up to the lake at St Albans to try it out. Could be a photo op here :)

Other than that I took the car down to a new carwash to get it washed and hoovered out. It looks a whole lot better but it really needs T cutting and a good wax to bring the paintwork up. I tried to talk Roy into doing it but he wasn't having any of it... guess I will be heading down to Halfords tomorrow!

I did a little scrapbooking tonight. Not much. Just started a page for the magazine. It seems so wierd to be scrapbooking Christmas photos in the middle of summer....except that the weather hasn't realised that it is summer! Kind of got a little stuck on it. Thats what happens when you have no idea what you are doing before you start lol. Oh well...I'll give it some thought tonight.

Holly is doing a fab page based on one I did for Banana Frog recently. I really love what she is doing but she has no confidence with her scrapbooking and it is sooo hard to get her to do something with me. Cheryl is gonna love it though....Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-53760403123744392902007-08-17T22:46:00.000+01:002007-08-17T23:12:28.992+01:00So....the results were better than we expected considering Holly wasn't well during the exams. The worst mark came from the exam she couldn't do anything for the last 20 minutes because of a coughing fit. But they might just not be good enough to be offered an interview or place at one or more of the Universities. Well not to study medicine anyway. It now depends on her predicted marks.

However an A for maths and Politics were great. Politics in particular because she really struggled with the revision. Then a B for Chemistry, so with a lot of hard work over the next year she could easily bring that up to an A. And a C for Biology, just 6 marks off a B but this will be much harder to make up.

But I am really proud of her, regardless of the marks. I just hope this is a wake-up call for the next year; that studying and revision must come first so that she has the best possible chance of becoming a Doctor.

Well, after a 14 hour day I finally got home, spent the next hour on the Internet and phone to my sister looking for flights to Boston and now we have them booked. For November! A long weekend which will be great fun because I think that the last time I went away with my sister on her own was about 24 years ago when we backpacked around Europe! I just hope we don't fight anywhere near as much as we did during that month lol.

Then I spent the next 3 1/2 hours trying to sort out invoices from the last year and a half as it had to be done by Friday. Somewhat frustrating as from my end they were accurate. But that is another story and hopefully the mess is now sorted.

So to bed at 3.30am....I must be mad. At least I don't have to work tomorrow...or today as it is now!!Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-25215021201866008162007-08-16T06:20:00.000+01:002007-08-16T07:27:08.365+01:00Results daySo today the A1 results come through. Holly could have looked online at midnight but she didn't want to. And I have to go to work today so I can't go to the school with her this time. Although she has arranged to meet her friends so I won't be needed once she arrives lol. She is quite sressed about them, she needs the grades to even stand a chance of studying medicine but she wasn't well during the week she took them and she didn't think she did well in them.

So I guess I will get a text sometime this morning.....Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6195763903941323553.post-67050412877444241792007-08-14T22:04:00.000+01:002007-08-14T22:48:36.429+01:00Watford win again!Although it was a cup game. Against a lower league club - Gillingham. Which funnily enough used to be MY team when I was growing up in the Medway Towns. I spent a few of my teenage years going to Priestfield Road and a few away games, watching the Gills play.

So tonight we won 3 nil. And Saturday is our first league home game. BUT I really, really hope it is a nice day. As much as I love my football, sitting there in the wind and the rain is not my idea of fun...especially when we are losing! I love the first few days of the new season when the weather is hot and sunny and I meet up with the people who sit around me and catch up after a few months off.

But tonight was a good result and I am happy.

No scrapbooking tonight. It has been a long couple of days at work and I am too tired to be creative. May be tomorrow. I have a lot to do for the magazine and the next two weekends are tied up with University visits; Keele on Sunday, Liverpool on Monday and Nottingham the following weekend. Holly is going to Brighton with a friend on the 29th, so we just need to fit in Bristol now. Oh and St Georges in London. But that should be fairly easy although as usual their open day clashes with Brighton's...as has happened with quite a few of the actual open days. We are planning on seeing Aberdeen in September although Holly now thinks that that is too far away. Expensive to get home for visits as flying will be the only option...but we will probably still have a look.

Hey - what is it with the weather? It was more like winter than summer today. I almost couldn't see the cars in front of me on the motorway this morning...it was so grey and the rain was non-stop. And this is summer? Did I miss something??Annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07517555969010503582noreply@blogger.com0
